Anderson, an actress and model widely known for her role on the television series "Baywatch," is raising money for actor Sean Penn’s humanitarian group, J/P Haitian Relief Organization, which provides health care, education and home construction for people affected by the country’s 2010 earthquake.
Anderson tweeted yesterday, “It’s official…I’m doing this,” and told ET Online that she’s become more involved in Haiti over the last few years.
Anderson is joining five Haitian runners as part of J/P HRO’s “The Long Run for Haiti” campaign. The Haitian team consists of three men and two women with personal bests in the half-marathon ranging from 1:13 to 1:35.
“I’ve only run marathons in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, so the ING New York City Marathon is going to drastically expand my horizons as a runner,” Haitian runner Astrel Clovis said in a press release. “This is a great opportunity to be recognized on an international level as a world athlete, and I’m honored to represent the Haitian community in such a positive way.”
