Mysterious coffin found at Richard III grave from 14th century
The second mysterious coffin was believed to have been buried over a century before Richard’s hole in the ground, near peasants style grave! This 14th century grave was lavish and definitely for someone who mattered.
The coffin was made of lead, decorated with an elaborate cross and in what was thought to be an important part of the abbey.
The thing is, no one knows who it is and as of now no known records even come close to shedding light on it.
But hope has to live on and more work will be done. Just think, this time last year we didn’t know exactly where Richard III was buried!
This grave could well be for someone very important in Leicester history, a knight, a friar, who knows! Maybe though it will always remain a mystery!
