U.S. Supreme Court takes on eight more cases, The U.S. Supreme Court Friday added eight cases for review this term, including a TV network's attempt to stop the unauthorized Internet streaming of its shows.
ABC Inc. seeks to stop Aereo Inc. from streaming its copyright programs without permission or paying for the rights, SCOTUSBLOG.com reported.
The nation's highest court also said it would consider:
-- Argentina vs. NML Capital Ltd., a case involving a long-running dispute over Argentina's default on its government debt.
-- POM Wonderful vs. Coca-Cola, where the issue is whether a private individual or company has a right to sue in federal court to challenge a food or beverage label as misleading or false under the Lanham Act.
-- Limelight Networks vs. Akamai Technologies, a patent infringement case.
-- Susan B. Anthony List vs. Driehaus, involving the right to sue to challenge a state law forbidding false statements about a candidate during an election campaign, when the speaker contends his statements are truthful.
-- United States vs. Clarke, an Internal Revenue Service case involving a summons of a taxpayer to provide information.
-- CTS Corp. vs. Waldberger, involving whether federal or federal law applies in clean-up of environmental wastes.
-- Nautilus vs. Biosig Instruments, a patent case.
